SUMMARY:International Women's Day Brunch
DESCRIPTION:International Women’s Day is celebrated around the world as a moment to honor women’s strength\, resilience\, and contributions to their communities. In Spokane\, the IRC has traditionally marked this day by hosting a celebration for refugee women and recognizing their courage as they build new lives. \nThis year\, many refugee women in our community do not feel safe gathering to celebrate. In this moment\, those of us who are able to come together have a meaningful opportunity to show our support in a different way. Join us for brunch and learn how you can help strengthen the services and resources refugee women rely on. We may not be able to gather with them\, but we can show up for them.

SUMMARY:The Velvet Society - an NEYFS Fundraiser
DESCRIPTION:Step into 1929.\nThe streets are quiet\, but the night is alive. Somewhere behind a hidden door\, beneath a flickering lamp on a quiet corner\, a secret is being kept—and shared. \nInside\, candlelight flickers on velvet drapes. Trumpets whisper. A piano hums like heartbeat. In the haze of smoke and shadow\, a voice rises—low\, deep\, full of soul—and the room stills. \nThis is The Velvet Society: a hidden refuge\, inspired by the underground clubs of the Harlem Renaissance\, where composers once defied silence with sound\, and where rhythm was both resistance and release. A place where all were welcome—no code\, no cover\, no color line. Only the music\, the mission\, and the moment. \nTonight\, we gather not just to remember—but to reignite. \nJust as jazz once gave voice to the unheard\, we give without question.\nNo forms. No barriers. No judgment.\nFood for the hungry. Clothes for the cold. Dignity for all. \nBecause even now\, behind many doors\, people go without.\nBut not here. Not in this Society. \nSo slip past the curtain. Take a seat at the table.\nTonight\, generosity wears a feather boa. Hope has a jazz flame. \nAnd every note played brings us one step closer to a world where no one is left behind.
